Booke AI: A Research Roundup for Firms Weighing an AI Bookkeeper

Published · Booke AI listing

What it is

Booke AI sells an "AI Bookkeeper" that runs inside QuickBooks Online or Xero. Booke says it reviews bank feeds every day, categorizes transactions, matches bills and receipts, and prepares reconciliations, leaving you to review the exceptions [1][3]. Its pricing page also lists missing-document requests, custom thresholds and rules, an audit trail for exception review, and OCR for bills, invoices and receipts [1].

Pricing

Booke's US pricing page shows a Business plan at $129 per business per month, billed monthly or annually [1]. There's also an accounting-firm tier with multi-client management, a white-labeled client experience and priority onboarding, but it's priced by quote only [1][2]. Litmus, an independent reviewer, points out that some third-party directories still show older tiers around $20 and $50 per client. Those tiers aren't on the current pricing page, so get any quoted price in writing [5]. Litmus also reports that Booke's pricing page shows no free plan or trial, and that Booke's terms allow refund requests within 14 working days [5].

What users say

  • Marketplace ratings are strong. The Xero App Store shows about 4.5/5 from 129 reviews [3]. Booke's own site cites 4.6/5 from 117 ratings on the QuickBooks App Store [1]. Recent Xero reviews (spring 2026) praise how fast setup is and say the product keeps bookkeeping "organized" and saves time [3].
  • Trustpilot is more mixed. Booke scores 3.4/5 there, from a much smaller set of about 20 reviews [4]. Positive reviews mention a clean interface and helpful human support. Negative reviews describe demos where nobody showed up, cancelled appointments, and confusion over QuickBooks Desktop support. One reviewer says the product works only with QuickBooks Online, even though the website implied otherwise [4].
  • Scope limits. Litmus says Booke "stages the close but doesn't finish it": it doesn't handle accruals, journal entries, payroll or multi-entity work. Litmus also calls support "polarized" [5].

Who it fits

Going by these sources, Booke looks best suited to bookkeepers and small firms on QBO or Xero whose main pain is daily categorization and receipt matching, and who will price it per client. Firms that want a full close or multi-entity support should look at the close tools in our directory.

Questions to ask before buying

  1. Can we pilot it on a real client file before we pay? [5]
  2. What's the firm-tier price per client compared with the $129 list price? [1]
  3. Does the product support our ledger (QBO or Xero only)? [4]
